Description
A purpleheart pen hand turned by me on a wood-turning lathe in my own UK workshop. With a high-quality chrome plated trim to complement the purple wood. Pen barrels handcrafted from a piece of Purpleheart wood. The wood is naturally a purplish brown when freshly cut, that changes to the bright purple on contact with air. 23 species in the family group Fabaceae from central and South America, some species hold the colour better than others.
The pen has a posted cap so can screw onto the end of the pen.
Purpleheart wood needs cutting to size for the pen and drilled with an appropriately sized hole. Once mounted on the lathe hand turned and shaped to round. The wood has up to 8 coatings of Ca glue applied, then sanded from 120 grit through to 12,000 grit for a high gloss durable finish
This purple Rollerball pen uses a quality ceramic liquid ink refill, other refills are available from any good stationery suppliers.
