Spalted Beech Retractable Ballpoint Pen

A retractable Spalted beech ballpoint pen handcrafted in our Ilgai style with a high-quality gold-plated trim. This retractable ballpoint pen has been hand turned on a woodturning lathe in my own UK workshop. Only traditional tools are used in the old-fashioned ways, no fancy CNC so everyone is slightly different. The wood I have used on this one is Spalted Beech.

Ilgai Pens With “Click” Mechanism

These pens have a length of 137mm long and unlike most of my ballpoint pens, you press the button on top of the pen for a convenient one-handed operation. I hand turned the wood to round and shape on the lathe. Once shaped, it needs sanding and polishing for a hard and durable high gloss finish. Other pens may have finishes such as wax or friction polish, these won’t give any long-term protection to the pen if ever used.

This pen uses a black Parker ballpoint G2 type refill. Other refills are available from my pen spares refills or any other good stationery suppliers.
