This wooden rollerball has been hand crafted in my own UK workshops. The pen has a high quality chrome plated trim with black details and non postable cap. This is a big pen, the sort of thing to use while writing cheques and making a statement. The pen barrels are hand turned from an unusual segmented herringbone design.
Time consuming to make every piece has to be glued to make the design before this even gets near the lathe. The blank is mounted on my lathe and turned too round and shaped. Once shaped it is sanded through to 400 grit and then upto 8 coatings of cyanoacrylate (superglue) are applied this is the polished to 12000 grit using micromesh for a super hard and durable high gloss finish. The wood needs to be sealed with a durable finish not the wood turners traditional friction polish or wax as these are not durable enough for daily use. Sealing the wood will prevent the natural oils from the skin staining and discoloring this beautiful wood design.
These fine writing pens use a quality ceramic rollerball liquid ink refill, other refills are readily available from any good stationery suppliers.
This pen is of a lovely quality and has a look of pure elegance about it. These rollerballs give the unique style and originality of something handcrafted and yet have the writing ability of a fountain pen.
All of my unique wooden ink pens come in a presentation box as standard. As every piece of wood is different in grain and figure even within the same larger piece these hand turned wooden pens will make great gift ideas and unique handmade wooden 5th wedding anniversary, fathers day, christmas or birthday gifts.
