Wood is naturally beautiful and my normal preference is to select pieces for colour, grain or figure in my pen designs or any of my wooden crafts for that matter. Sometimes though this is not always possible

What do you think is this my best pen yet? I think for its class and price point it is, yes I have lots of beautiful pens and could pick one for every occasion
Before I start making the barber-pole wooden pen the block has to be handmade. Select two contrasting kinds of wood, I like to use Sapelle and sycamore or maple. Rip on the table saw to about 6mm for the bands on the pen
Just recently I have experimented with resin and casting my own blanks, now I have found a resin I like and is easy to work with there are lots more to follow with all the different opportunities this opens up. Being able to make my own colour schemes for pens or customer requests, able to cast blanks to expand the novelty pens
